Item: When a target as good as this one is found, B-26 crew members of the 452nd Light Bomb Wing are reluctant to leave it until it has received a thorough working over. The light bombers went in time after time to saturate this nest of enemy barracks in Korea with para-frag bombs in order to make it completely untenable by Communist soldiers. This photograph was taken from the tail of a U.S. Far East Air Forces light bomber which dropped the parachute bombs.

chn:Pursuant to an agreement between the Air Force and the Smithsonian Institution, the portion of this series covering the pre-1954 period was placed on loan with the National Air and Space Museum (NASM) in 1981. The purpose of this loan was, in part, to enable NASM staff to produce a videodisc (see Record Group 342, Series VID - National Air and Space Museum Archival Videodiscs: U.S. Air Force Pre-1954 Still Photograph Collection") of the Air Force's photograhic collection. By 1997, this project, though slowed by heavy use of the collection by the public and by various preservation issues, was largely complete. In late 1997 an agreement was reached between NARA, Air Force Records Management, and the NASM to transfer physical and legal custody of the records to NARA. The move of the records was completed in early January of 1998.
